Exercise Tip of the Week

Cross Training - The Real Deal!

Cross training is an easy way to accomplish many goals and has many benefits:

* Adds variety
* Biggest bang for your time buck
* Conditions the entire body
* Reduces risk of injury
* Burns more calories
* Work some muscles, while others recover
* Can take you to next fitness level
* More varied training regimen

Need I say more? Cross training style workouts take two or more types of physical activity and combine them.
Cross training style workouts take two or more types of physical activity and combine them. Such as 3 minutes intense aerobic activity (bike, treadmill, or arc trainer) and combine it with two or three different weight training exercises (dumbbell lunges, bent over rows, and triceps kickbacks) and then 50 reps of abdominals. Since you take no rest between the various exercise, the work load is maximum and you accomplish more in a given time frame. It is a great way to condition different muscle groups and develop new sets of skills. Plus it's interesting and fun! Cross training also allows you to vary the stress placed on specific muscles or cardiovascular system. The body becomes efficient at performing certain routines or intensity levels that remain the same. Rather than improving, you maintain a certain level of fitness. So change your style of training and get the real deal!
