Words of Encouragement in a Difficult Time

Whoa! What is going on? The economy is disintegrating. Jobs, savings, and retirement funds are disappearing rapidly. Gas and food prices are going through the roof. The housing market and every other market are lower than most can remember. These are uncertain times. How did things get so bad so quick? What can you do about it?
There is only so much you can control. You can control yourself and what you do in your life. You can't change or control other people. You do have the ability to influence those around you by your actions. You also have the ability to make decisions and choices regarding your life. Those decisions and choices are not always easy! You can empower yourself to make the necessary changes to get your life on a better track. But, change is not easy. It requires an honest self-evaluation. What is it that you need to do to make changes in yourself to accomplish your choices? It takes honesty, determination, and hard work to really change. So, what can you do to live a more productive, healthy, fulfilling life?

First, get yourself healthy. When you are healthy, life and it's challenges become much easier to manage. Eat well and exercise. Get plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, clean protein and water in your daily eating regimen. Move! Walk, run, bike, lift weights, yoga, swim, aerobics class, do something! Anything. Anywhere. Just do it on a regular basis.

Second, practice purchasing what you need and not what you want. You'll save a fortune. Having a well thought out plan and budget on a monthly basis for your household will keep you mindful of your spending. Like getting the junk food out of your diet for a healthier body, cut down on unnecessary spending for a healthier financial status.

Third, surround yourself with positive influences and be a positive influence yourself! Help others. Make an effort to focus your energies in an encouraging and constructive direction. If there are unfinished projects or "things" you have been meaning to do, get them done! It will make a difference in your life and give you the benefits of accomplishment.

Lastly, make every effort to improve the relationships that are important to you. It will become your support core. We all need support in order to accomplish our goals. Relationships require an enormous amount of effort. They don't just exist. Do everything you possibly can to make your associations work. It's worth it. But, know when to cut your losses. If it doesn't work, move on. You can't make other people change, if they don't want to. Learn from your experiences and assume ownership of your share of why the relationships didn't work. Most importantly, don't continue to make the same mistake!

Hang in there! Work hard and remember: you reap what you sow!

Until next month, in health and happiness,

D'Lynne
