Making Exercise a Regular Component
of Your Life

We all know the health benefits of exercise. It can protect you from heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, noninsulin-dependent diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, depression, back pain...the list goes on! Integrating exercise into your schedule on a regular basis requires planning and commitment. It must also be a priority and become a habit.

Definition of priority: something given special attention; highest or higher importance.

Definition of habit: an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary; customary practice or use.
It takes a strong mental dedication to successfully integrate anything in your life. You wouldn't go to the dentist without brushing your teeth for a week. Give exercise that same importance. Encourage the upside of exercise to yourself. I'll feel better, I'll be healthier, I'll lose extra weight, I'll get rid of stress, etc. be realistic in your planning of your exercise routine. It's better to accomplish three days of activity a week consistently, than four days one week, none the next, and so on.
